ABC offers social skills classes for a variety of ages and skill sets. Each group has goal and weekly, participants will learn from a variety of mini lessons about each topic. The groups are a combination of lessons, activities, and an opportunity to play and socialize with a group of similar aged peers.

WINTER 2020 SESSION GROUPS:

Emotions: Perspective Taking

AGES: 6-9                RATIO: 1:3                 COST: $400                     FUNDING OPTIONS: SSAH & OAP Funding

DATES: TUESDAYS: January 14th, 2020- March 24, 2020 (10 weeks)

Time: 4:45pm – 6:00pm

DESCRIPTION: This social group focuses on children’s individual emotions and the perspective taking of others. We will begin groups with a mini lesson discussing the topic of the week followed by activities that will help the group members learn the content in an experiential way. We will use many tools including conversations, small and large group activities, role play, and games in order to facilitate learning.

DATES: TUESDAYS: January 14th, 2020- March 24, 2020 (10 weeks)

Time: 6:15pm – 7:30pm

DESCRIPTION: This skills group will focus on ways students can succeed in the classroom.  Students will learn skills such as organization and discuss common classroom issues to develop skills to cope and succeed in the school setting. Topics will be taught through activities and mini lessons that help develop skills such as time management, organization, presentation skills, and peer interactions within a school setting.  These pre-teens will have lots of opportunities to share their stories and experiences with peers similar in age.
